Female Officers File Suit Alleging Sexual Harassment

Female Officers File Suit Alleging Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is one of the worst things a woman can endure in the work place, or in any other capacity. Sexual harassment is demeaning and disrespectful and should never be tolerated no matter the situation. Many women who find themselves in this kind of position aren’t sure where to turn in order to put a stop to it. Other women want to speak up and put a stop to this kind of behavior, but they often fear retaliation if they say something to a superior. However, the bottom line is no one should ever put up with sexual harassment.

Five female employees of the police department have filed a lawsuit after they say a department sergeant sexually harassed them for many years. According to court documents, the women say the sergeant touched their breasts, rubbed his genitals across their arms and hands and showed them pictures of his genitals as well. The women also allege that he showed them videos of him engaging in sex and attempted to kiss them. The department eventually did an internal investigation and the sergeant in question has not been with the department since 2013.

However, according to the lawsuit, the women have also named the sergeant’s brother, who is also a sergeant with the same department, as a defendant, after they claim he retaliated against them. According to the suit the second sergeant used a “demeaning tone and attitude” against them after they testified against his brother. The women have also named the city as a defendant in their lawsuit. This is the perfect example of women being treated inappropriately in the workplace and then suffering additional harassment for speaking up about it. Sexual harassment and retaliation for harassment are never ok.
